Adhyaya 27 — Madālasa’s Instruction to King Alarka: Royal Ethics, Self-Conquest, and Statecraft

एतद्राज्ञः परं कृत्यं तथैतत् सिद्धिकारकम् ।

स्वधर्मस्थापनं नृणां चाल्यन्ते ये कुबुद्धिभिः ॥

Transliteration

etad rājñaḥ paraṃ kṛtyaṃ tathaitat siddhikārakam / svadharmasthāpanaṃ nṛṇāṃ cālyante ye kubuddhibhiḥ

Translation

Dies ist die höchste Pflicht des Königs und sie bringt Erfolg: die Menschen in ihrer eigenen Dharma zu festigen—besonders jene, die durch verirrten Verstand (schlechten Rat) vom Weg abgebracht werden.
