Ballava (Bhīma) Seeks Employment as Royal Cook in Virāṭa’s Court

ये त्वानुवादे<युरवृत्तिकर्शिता ब्रूयाश्व तेषां वचनेन मां सदा । दास्यामि सर्व तदहं न संशयो न ते भयं विद्यति संनिधौ मम,जो लोग जीविकाके अभावमें कष्ट पा रहे हों और अनुवादके लिये अर्थात्‌ पहलेके स्थायी तौरपर दिये हुए खेत और बगीचे आदिको पुनः उपयोगमें लानेके निमित्त नूतन राजाज्ञा प्राप्त करनेके लिये आपके पास आवें, उनके अनुरोधपूर्ण वचनसे आप सदा उनकी प्रार्थना मुझे सुना सकते हैं। विश्वास रखिये, आपके कथनानुसार उन याचकोंको मैं सब कुछ दूँगा; इसमें संशय नहीं है। आपको मेरे पास आने या कुछ कहनेमें भयभीत होनेकी आवश्यकता नहीं है

ye tvānuvāde ’yuravṛttikarśitā brūyāśva teṣāṃ vacanena māṃ sadā | dāsyāmi sarvaṃ tadahaṃ na saṃśayo na te bhayaṃ vidyati sannidhau mama ||

Virāṭa sprach: „Wenn Menschen, vom Mangel an Lebensunterhalt bedrängt, zu dir kommen wegen der Erneuerung früherer Schenkungen — um einen neuen königlichen Befehl zu erbitten, damit einst zugewiesene Felder und Gärten wieder genutzt werden können —, dann darfst du mir auf ihr Bitten hin jederzeit ihre Bitte vortragen. Vertraue darauf: deinem Wort gemäß werde ich ihnen geben, was immer nötig ist; daran besteht kein Zweifel. Du brauchst nicht zu fürchten, zu mir zu kommen oder in meiner Gegenwart zu sprechen.“
