Kṛpa–Arjuna Chariot Engagement

Educational Q&A

True heroism is not merely the capacity to fight, but the restraint to act only within dharma. The Pāṇḍavas are portrayed as willing to suffer—even to die—rather than secure power through falsehood or unrighteous means, thereby upholding the kṣatriya code and moral integrity.

Bhīṣma defends the character of the Pāṇḍavas, emphasizing that they had the strength to assert themselves immediately, yet chose not to break dharma-bound commitments. The statement functions as a testimonial to their disciplined adherence to duty and truth, countering any accusation of cowardice or deceit.
