Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 33 — Kuru Cattle-Raid and Matsya Mobilization (भूमिंजय-प्रेरणा)
सुशर्मा चिन्तयामास कालान्तकयमोपमम् । तिष्ठ तिषछ्ेति भाषन्तं पृष्ठतो रथपुज्भव: । पश्यतां सुमहत् कर्म महद् युद्धमुपस्थितम्,रथियोंमें श्रेष्ठ सुशर्मा पीछेकी ओरसे आते और “खड़ा रह, खड़ा रह” कहते हुए काल, अन्तक एवं यमराजके समान भयंकर वीर पुरुषको देखकर चिन्तामें पड़ गया और अपने साथियोंसे बोला--'देखो, फिर बड़ा भारी युद्ध उपस्थित हुआ है। इसमें महान् पराक्रम दिखाओ'
Suśarmā cintayāmāsa kālāntaka-yamopamam | tiṣṭha tiṣṭheti bhāṣantaṁ pṛṣṭhato ratha-puṅgavam | paśyatāṁ sumahat karma mahad yuddham upasthitam ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: Suśarmā, als er von hinten den vornehmsten der Wagenkämpfer sah—schrecklich wie Zeit, Tod und Yama—der „Steh! Steh!“ rief, geriet in bange Grübelei. Dann sprach er zu seinen Gefährten: „Seht—abermals hat sich eine große Schlacht eingestellt. Zeigt darin gewaltige Tapferkeit!“
