जना: समवबुध्येरन्‌ भीमो5यमिति भारत । अन्यदेवायुध॑ किंचित्‌ प्रतिपद्यस्व मानुषम्‌,'भीमसेन! ऐसा दुःसाहस न करो, इस वृक्षको खड़ा रहने दो। यदि तुम इस महावृक्षको उखाड़नेका अतिमानुष (मानवोंके लिये असाध्य) कर्म करोगे, तो सब लोग पहचान लेंगे कि यह तो भीम है। अतः भारत! तुम किसी दूसरे मानवोचित आयुधको ही ग्रहण करो

Transliteration

janāḥ samavabudhyeran bhīmo ’yam iti bhārata | anyad evāyudhaṃ kiñcit pratipadyasva mānuṣam ||

Translation

Vaiśampāyana sprach: „O Bhārata, die Leute würden klar erkennen: ‘Das ist Bhīma.’ Darum nimm eine andere, nur menschliche Waffe. Versuche keine übermenschliche Tat—wie diesen großen Baum mit der Wurzel auszureißen—denn das würde deine Identität enthüllen und den Zweck des Verborgenseins gefährden.“
