कृपवाक्यं तथा नीत्युपदेशः
Kṛpa’s Counsel and a Discourse on Statecraft
तत्र नाहं तथा मन्ये यथायमितरो जन:
tatra nāhaṃ tathā manye yathāyam itaro janaḥ
„Dort, so meine ich, verhält es sich nicht so, wie dieser gewöhnliche Mann es annimmt. Nach meinem Urteil ist sein Verständnis kein wahrer Maßstab dessen, was tatsächlich der Fall ist.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
One should not accept a common or superficial opinion as decisive; careful discernment is required, and the speaker signals a more accurate understanding than that of an ordinary observer.
Vaiśampāyana, as narrator, interjects a corrective judgment: he rejects the view attributed to an ‘ordinary person’ and indicates that the situation should be understood differently than common assumption.
