Bhīṣma’s Appraisal of Yudhiṣṭhira’s Dharmic Rule (भीष्मोक्त-युधिष्ठिर-राजधर्म-प्रशंसा)

शुद्धात्मा गुणवान्‌ पार्थ: सत्यवान्‌ नीतिमान्‌ शुचि: । तेजोराशिरसंख्येयो गृह्लीयादपि चक्षुषा,“दुन्तीपुत्र युधिष्ठिर शुद्धचित्त, गुणवान्‌, सत्यवानू, नीतिमान्‌, पवित्र और तेजके पुंज हैं; अतः उन्हें पहचानना असम्भव है। आँखोंसे दीख जानेपर भी वे मनुष्यको मोह लेंगे-- पहचाने नहीं जा सकेंगे

śuddhātmā guṇavān pārthaḥ satyavān nītimān śuciḥ | tejorāśir asaṅkhyeyo gṛhlīyād api cakṣuṣā ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: „Jener Sohn der Pṛthā (Yudhiṣṭhira) ist rein an Seele, reich an Tugenden, wahrhaftig, der rechten Ordnung (nīti) verpflichtet und makellos. Er ist eine unermessliche Masse von Glanz; selbst wenn man ihn mit eigenen Augen sähe, könnte er die Menschen noch verwirren—man würde ihn nicht erkennen, wie er in Wahrheit ist.“
