Educational Q&A

The verse highlights responsible self-protection and disciplined conduct: Bhīma undertakes a vow to safeguard himself through his own vigilance and to behave in a way that ensures safety during a precarious period, aligning strength with restraint and purpose.

During the Virāṭa episode, the Pāṇḍavas must remain concealed. Bhīmasena declares to the king (addressed as ‘viśāmpati’/‘rājan’) that he will protect himself and move about in Virāṭa’s city in a manner that allows him to live there securely, supporting the group’s plan to remain undiscovered.
