दूयामि भरतमश्रेष्ठ दृष्ट॒वा ते भ्रातरं प्रियम् । गोषु गोवृषसंकाशं मत्स्येनाभिनिवेशितम्,भरतश्रेष्ठ! साँड़के समान हृष्ट-पुष्ट तुम्हारे प्रिय भ्राता सहदेवको राजा विराढके द्वारा गौओंकी सेवामें लगाया गया देख मुझे बड़ा दुःख होता है
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: dūyāmi bharataśreṣṭha dṛṣṭvā te bhrātaraṁ priyam | goṣu govṛṣasaṅkāśaṁ matsyenābhiniveśitam ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „O Bester der Bharatas, es schmerzt mich, deinen geliebten Bruder zu sehen—strahlend und kräftig wie ein edler Stier unter den Kühen—vom König der Matsyas zum Dienst beim Vieh bestimmt. Ein solcher Sturz der Stellung betrübt mich zutiefst.“
