Northern Sacred Places Enumeration
This colophon-like verse signals completion of a chapter centered on pilgrimage, implying that engagement with tīrthas (sacred places) supports dharma through purification, remembrance, and disciplined conduct—especially meaningful during the trials of forest exile.
Vaiśaṃpāyana marks the end of the eighty-seventh chapter within the Tīrtha-yātrā Parva of the Vana Parva, specifying that the chapter’s subject concerns Dhaumya’s pilgrimage.
