प्रवेण्युत्तरमार्गे तु पुण्ये कण्वाश्रमे तथा । तापसानामरण्यानि कीर्तितानि यथाश्रुति,यह स्तम्भ प्रवेणी नदीके उत्तरवर्ती मार्गमें कण्वके पुण्यमय आश्रममें है। इस प्रकार जैसा कि मैंने सुन रखा था, तपस्वी महात्माओंके निवासयोग्य वनोंका वर्णन किया है
praveṇy-uttaramārge tu puṇye kaṇvāśrame tathā | tāpasānām araṇyāni kīrtitāni yathāśruti ||
Dhaumya sprach: «Auf der nördlichen Route des Praveṇī, ebenso beim heiligen Āśrama des Kaṇva, habe ich—wie ich es der Überlieferung nach vernommen habe—jene Waldzufluchten beschrieben, die für Asketen taugen.»
