Damayantī’s Distress, Proclamation of the Svayaṃvara, and the Gods’ Request

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights an ethical ideal of leadership and nobility: true worth is shown not only by brave speech but by enduring inner radiance (tejas) and unimpaired auspicious qualities—steadfast character that remains intact despite hardship.

Yudhiṣṭhira summarizes that the assembled heroes had spoken in many different ways, and he characterizes them collectively as radiant, courageous men whose auspicious traits and signs remain undiminished.
