Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Sañjaya on Arjuna’s Indraloka report and the political consequences

इदं यः शृणुयाद्‌ वृत्तं नित्यं पाण्डुसुतस्य वै । न तस्य काम: कामेषु पापकेषु प्रवर्तते,जो मनुष्य पाण्डुनन्दन अर्जुनके इस चरित्रको प्रतिदिन सुनता है, उसके मनमें पापपूर्ण विषयभोगोंकी इच्छा नहीं होती

idaṃ yaḥ śṛṇuyād vṛttaṃ nityaṃ pāṇḍusutasya vai | na tasya kāmaḥ kāmeṣu pāpakeṣu pravartate ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: Wer regelmäßig diese Begebenheit vom Sohn Pāṇḍus (Arjuna) anhört, bei dem wendet sich der Drang des Begehrens nicht zu sündhaften Gegenständen des Genusses. Die Erzählung selbst wird zum moralischen Schutz, der den Geist von schädlichen Freuden ablenkt.
