Dhṛtarāṣṭra and Sañjaya on Arjuna’s Indraloka report and the political consequences
The verse emphasizes ethical reverence grounded in dharma: one should honor those who are sources of one’s lineage and welfare. An ancestress or benefactress of the family line is to be respected profoundly—here described as worthy of honor even beyond that accorded to a teacher—highlighting gratitude, restraint, and right perception.
The speaker (Vaiśampāyana, in narration) describes recognizing a revered female figure as the ancestress of the Paurava line. On recognizing her, he feels joy and reverence, clarifies that no improper intention should be suspected, and frames his attitude as one of worshipful respect because she is connected with the increase and continuity of his lineage.
