स सूतो भार्यया सार्थ विम्मयोत्फुल्ललोचन: । अड्कमारोप्य तं बालं भारया वचनमब्रवीत्‌,उसे देखकर पत्नीसहित सूतके नेत्रकमल आश्चर्य एवं प्रसन्नतासे खिल उठे। उसने बालकको गोदमें लेकर अपनी पत्नीसे कहा--

Transliteration

sa sūto bhāryayā sārthaṁ vismayotphullalocanaḥ | aṅkam āropya taṁ bālaṁ bhāryāyā vacanam abravīt ||

Translation

Vaiśampāyana sprach: Der Wagenlenker sah das Kind in Begleitung seiner Frau, und seine lotosgleichen Augen öffneten sich weit vor staunender Freude. Er hob den Knaben auf seinen Schoß und sprach zu seiner Gattin—Worte, geformt von Verwunderung und dem erwachenden Gefühl der Verantwortung für das hilflose Kind.
