इदं तु वचन पार्थ शृणुष्व गदतो मम । भ्रातृभि: सह कौन्तेय यत् त्वां वक्ष्यामि कौरव,“कुन्तीनन्दन! कुरुश्रेष्ठ भाइयोंसहित तुमसे मैं जो एक बात कह रहा हूँ, इसे ध्यान देकर सुनो
idaṃ tu vacanaṃ pārtha śṛṇuṣva gadato mama | bhrātṛbhiḥ saha kaunteya yat tvāṃ vakṣyāmi kaurava ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „O Pārtha, höre aufmerksam diese meine Worte, während ich sie ausspreche. O Sohn der Kuntī, zusammen mit deinen Brüdern, vernimm, was ich dir sagen will, o Spross des Kuru-Geschlechts.“
