Recovery of Draupadī and Jayadratha’s flight
The verse underscores decorum and restraint in royal life: entry into the ‘inner chambers’ signals a private, family-centered space where relationships and counsel often shape public outcomes. It also quietly frames Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s situation—seen together with Gāndhārī—highlighting the ethical weight of family bonds and the influence of close companions in decisions of state.
A valiant figure enters the residence and proceeds to the inner quarters, where he encounters Dhṛtarāṣṭra seated with Gāndhārī. The line functions as a scene-setting transition into a private audience or significant conversation.
