ते तं घनैरिवादित्यं दृष्टवा सम्परिवारितम्
te taṃ ghanair ivādityaṃ dṛṣṭvā samparivāritam
Mārkaṇḍeya sprach: Als sie ihn völlig umringt sahen—wie die Sonne von dichten Wolken verhüllt—erkannten sie, dass sein Glanz und seine Freiheit zu handeln durch die einschließende Macht behindert wurden.
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse uses the sun obscured by clouds to suggest that true brilliance or virtue may be temporarily hidden by adverse conditions; one should not mistake temporary concealment for permanent defeat, and should respond with patience and clear judgment.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes a scene where a particular figure is seen fully encircled, and he conveys this visually through the comparison to the sun surrounded by thick clouds.
