The Vāmadeva Horses Episode and the Ethics of Promise
All categories of beings—divine, human, and other—are manifested and withdrawn under a single divine governance through māyā. Ethically, this frames worldly power and identity as transient, encouraging humility, restraint, and steadfast adherence to dharma rather than attachment or enmity.
The divine speaker declares his cosmic function: he creates various orders of beings and, when the time comes, dissolves them again by his own power. The statement situates the ongoing events within a larger cycle of creation and reabsorption.
