Educational Q&A

Power gained through force and alliances still carries moral consequence: even if success comes ‘through a human agent,’ the slaughter of troops brings inevitable suffering. Yet moral release is possible—recognition or encounter with the decisive righteous person (‘that very man’) becomes the turning point for expiation and liberation from sin.

Dhanēśvara addresses a misguided figure, predicting a mixed outcome: initial advancement with the help of assembled troops, followed by distress when those troops are destroyed. The speaker then foretells a redemptive moment—upon seeing a particular man, the addressee will be freed from the burden of wrongdoing.
