पपात रुधिरादिग्ध॑ संदष्टदशनच्छदम्‌ । त॑ निहत्य महेष्वासो युधिष्ठिरमुपागमत्‌ । स्तूयमानो द्विजाग्रयैस्तु मरुद्धिरिव वासव:,दाँतोंसे दबे हुए ओठवाला वह मस्तक खूनसे लथपथ होकर गिर पड़ा था। इस प्रकार जटासुरको मारकर महान धनुर्धर भीमसेन युधिष्ठिरके पास आये। उस समय श्रेष्ठ द्विज उनकी भूरि-भूरि प्रशंसा कर रहे थे, मानो मरुद्गण देवराज इन्द्रके गुण गा रहे हों

papāta rudhirādigdhaḥ saṃdaṣṭa-daśana-cchadam | taṃ nihatya maheṣvāso yudhiṣṭhiram upāgamat | stūyamāno dvijāgryais tu marudbhir iva vāsavaḥ ||

Sein Haupt, mit Blut verschmiert und die Lippen vom zusammengebissenen Gebiss gepresst, fiel zu Boden. Nachdem Bhīmasena, der große Bogenschütze, so Jaṭāsura erschlagen hatte, trat er zu Yudhiṣṭhira. Da priesen ihn die vornehmsten der zweimal Geborenen in reichem Maße, als sängen die Maruts die Tugenden Vāsavas (Indras).
