ततस्ते सागरा: सर्वे समुपेत्य परस्परम् । नाध्यगच्छन्त तुरगमश्च॒हर्तारमेव च,महाराज! तदनन्तर वे पिताकी आज्ञा ले इस सम्पूर्ण भूतलमें सभी दिशाओंमें अश्वकी खोज करने लगे। खोजते-खोजते सभी सगरपुत्र एक-दूसरेसे मिले, परंतु वे अश्व तथा अश्वहर्ताका पता न लगा सके
tataste sāgarāḥ sarve samupetya parasparam | nādhyagacchanta turagamaś ca hartāram eva ca, mahārāja |
Dann kamen alle Söhne Sagaras zusammen und trafen einander, doch konnten sie, o König, weder das Opferpferd noch den Dieb selbst ausfindig machen. Die Begebenheit zeigt, wie Eifer bei der Ausführung eines königlichen Befehls durch Unkenntnis der wahren Sachlage vereitelt werden kann, und wie ungezügeltes Nachsetzen ohne klares Wissen zu weiterem Irrtum und Schaden führt.
