Vidura’s Counsel to Krishna on the Limits of Peace
As a colophon, the line itself teaches by framing the preceding exchange as a complete moral episode: Kṛṣṇa’s dharmic counsel and Duryodhana’s stance are presented as a decisive ethical test in which diplomacy is offered before violence, and refusal of righteous compromise becomes a cause for inevitable conflict.
The narrator signals the close of the chapter and identifies its placement: within Udyoga Parva, in the Bhagavad-yāna section, concluding the Kṛṣṇa–Duryodhana dialogue. It functions as an editorial marker that the diplomatic conversation has reached a formal endpoint.
