विदुरस्य कृष्णं प्रति शमोपदेशः

Vidura’s Counsel to Krishna on the Limits of Peace

य: कल्याणगुणान्‌ ज्ञातीन्‌ मोहाल्लो भाद दिदृक्षते । सो<जितात्माजितक्रोधो न चिरं तिष्ठति श्रियम्‌

yaḥ kalyāṇa-guṇān jñātīn mohāl lobhād didṛkṣate | so 'jitātmājita-krodho na ciraṁ tiṣṭhati śriyam ||

Vaiśampāyana sprach: Wer aus Verblendung und Gier die eigenen Verwandten—obwohl mit heilsamen Tugenden begabt—als Gegenstände der Ausbeutung betrachtet, der, weil er Geist und Zorn nicht bezwungen hat, wird königlichen Wohlstand nicht lange bewahren.
