अध्याय ३९: विदुरेण धृतराष्ट्राय नीत्युपदेशः

Timely Counsel, Association, and Kin-Duty

इदं वच: शक्ष्यसि चेद्‌ यथाव- न्निशम्य सर्व प्रतिपत्तुमेव । यश: पर प्राप्स्सि जीवलोके भयं न चामुत्र न चेह ते5स्ति,मेरी इस बातको सुनकर यदि आप सब ठीक-ठीक समझ सकेंगे तो इस मनुष्यलोकमें आपको महान्‌ यश प्राप्त होगा और इहलोक तथा परलोकमें आपके लिये भय नहीं रहेगा

idaṃ vacaḥ śakṣyasi ced yathāvan niśamya sarvaṃ pratipattum eva | yaśaḥ paraṃ prāpsyasi jīvaloke bhayaṃ na cāmutra na ceha te 'sti ||

Vidura sprach: „Wenn du, nachdem du diese Worte gehört hast, ihren vollen Sinn richtig erfassen und sie in die Tat umsetzen kannst, wirst du in dieser Menschenwelt den höchsten Ruhm erlangen; und für dich wird es keine Furcht geben—weder hier noch im Jenseits.“
