द्यूतमेतत् पुराकल्पे दृष्टं वैरकरं नृणाम् । तस्माद् द्यूतं न सेवेत हास्यार्थमपि बुद्धिमान्,पूर्वकालमें जूआ खेलना मनुष्योंमें वैर डालनेका कारण देखा गया है; अतः बुद्धिमान् मनुष्य हँसीके लिये भी जूआ न खेले
dyūtam etat purākalpe dṛṣṭaṁ vairakaraṁ nṛṇām | tasmād dyūtaṁ na seveta hāsyārtham api buddhimān ||
Vidura sprach: „Seit uralten Zeiten gilt dieses Würfelspiel als ein Keim der Feindschaft unter den Menschen. Darum soll der Weise sich dem Spiel nicht hingeben—nicht einmal zum Zeitvertreib.“
