Act with deliberation and then with timely resolve: ethical leadership requires careful thought (cintayitvā) followed by prompt action (mā ciram), especially when peace and the prevention of war are at stake.
The speaker reports a decision to send Sañjaya as a messenger to the Pāṇḍavas, while instructing the addressed respected person (a Brahmin/purohita figure in the surrounding context) to return to the Pāṇḍavas without delay—signaling coordinated diplomatic outreach.
