अम्बायाः तपोदीक्षा–रुद्रवर–आत्मदाहः
Amba’s Ascetic Vow, Rudra’s Boon, and Self-Immolation
भायोवाच न तन्मिथ्या महाराज भविष्यति कथंचन । त्रैलोेक्यकर्ता कस्माद्धि वृथा वक्तुमिहाहति
dṛpada uvāca | na tan mithyā mahārāja bhaviṣyati kathaṃcana | trailokyakartā kasmād dhi vṛthā vaktum ihārhati | rājan yadi te rocate brūyāṃ mama vākyaṃ niśāmaya | pṛṣatanandana etac chrutvā yathābuddhi gṛhāṇa ||
Die Königin sprach: „O großer König, die von Śiva gewährte Gabe wird keinesfalls je falsch sein. Wie sollte der Schöpfer der drei Welten hier müßig oder unwahr reden? O König, wenn es dir gefällt, will ich sprechen—höre meine Worte. O Sohn des Pṛṣata, nachdem du sie gehört hast, nimm sie nach deinem besten Urteil an.“
दुपद उवाच
A divine boon—especially from a cosmic Lord like Śiva—is not to be suspected as false; the passage upholds satya (truth) and the ethical confidence that a supreme being does not speak vainly.
Drupada addresses a king, affirming that Śiva’s granted boon cannot become untrue, and then asks permission to continue speaking, urging the listener to hear and accept the counsel with discernment.
