भीष्मस्वप्न-स्मृत्युपाख्यानम् | Bhīṣma’s Dream-Linked Recollection of the Paraśurāma Combat
ततो<ब्रवीत् सागरगा जिह्दां चरसि भाविनि । नैष कामो5नवलद्याड़ि शक््य: प्राप्तुं त्वयाबले
tato 'bravīt sāgaragā jihvāṃ ca rasi bhāvini | naiṣa kāmo 'navaladyāḍi śakyaḥ prāptuṃ tvayābale ||
Da sprach Rāma: „O du, die du im Ozean umherziehst, o Zarte—deine Zunge irrt wahrlich ruhelos umher. Doch dieses Begehren kann nicht erfüllt werden; dir, Schwacher, ist es unmöglich, es zu erlangen.“
राम उवाच
Desire must be measured against reality and capacity; ethical restraint means recognizing what cannot or should not be pursued and curbing impulsive craving.
Rāma addresses a feminine figure described as ocean-moving, remarking that her tongue roams restlessly and declaring that the particular desire she seeks is unattainable for her due to weakness or lack of capacity.
