भीष्मस्वप्न-स्मृत्युपाख्यानम् | Bhīṣma’s Dream-Linked Recollection of the Paraśurāma Combat

विचरामि महीं देवि यथा हन्यामहं नृपम्‌ । एतद्‌ व्रतफलं देवि परमस्मिन्‌ यथा हि मे

vicarāmi mahīṃ devi yathā hanyām ahaṃ nṛpam | etad vrata-phalaṃ devi paramasmin yathā hi me |

Rāma sprach: „O Göttin, ich wandere über die Erde, damit ich fähig werde, jenen König zu erschlagen. O Devi, dies — wie ich es dir gesagt habe — ist die höchste Frucht meines Gelübdes und meiner Askese in dieser Welt: dass ich selbst seinen Tod herbeiführe.“
