भीष्म–जामदग्न्यसंवादः (Amba-prasaṅga and Kurukṣetra Dvandva Declaration) / Bhishma–Jamadagnya Dialogue

तस्याहं निशितं भल्‍ल्लं चिक्षेप भरतर्षभ । तेनास्य धनुष: कोटिं छित्त्वा भूमावपातयम्‌,भरतश्रेष्ठ! ऐसा कहकर मैंने उनके ऊपर तेज धारवाले एक भलल नामक बाणका प्रहार किया और उसके द्वारा उनके धनुषकी कोटि (अग्रभाग)-को काटकर पृथ्वीपर गिरा दिया

tasyāhaṃ niśitaṃ bhallaṃ cikṣepa bharatarṣabha | tenāsya dhanuṣaḥ koṭiṃ chittvā bhūmāv apātayam ||

Darauf, o Stier unter den Bhāratas, schleuderte ich einen scharf geschliffenen Bhalla-Pfeil auf ihn. Mit ihm trennte ich die Spitze seines Bogens ab und ließ sie zu Boden fallen – eine Tat, die seine Waffe außer Gefecht setzen sollte, nicht ihn selbst niederstrecken, und die beherrschte Kraft im Rahmen des Kampfes zeigt.
