Bhīṣma’s Appraisal of Pāṇḍava-Alliance Warriors (Śikhaṇḍin, Dhṛṣṭadyumna, and Allied Kings)
न हि देवेषु सर्वेषु नासुरेषूरगेषु च
na hi deveṣu sarveṣu nāsureṣv urageṣu ca | na rākṣaseṣu yakṣeṣu vā arjuna-samaḥ kvacit || manuṣyeṣu kutaḥ syād vā bhūtaṃ bhaviṣyaṃ ca me śrutam | na tathā rathināṃ kaścid iti bhīṣma uvāca ||
Bhīṣma sprach: „Wahrlich, unter allen Göttern gibt es keinen, weder unter den Asuras noch unter den Schlangenwesen; auch unter Rākṣasas und Yakṣas findet sich keiner, der Arjuna gleichkäme. Wie sollte es dann unter den Menschen einen solchen Widerpart geben? Weder aus der Vergangenheit noch aus der Zukunft habe ich je von einem Wagenkrieger wie ihm gehört.“
