एतदू धर्मफल पुत्र नराणां धर्मनिश्चये । यत्‌ तुष्यन्त्यस्य पितरो माता चाप्येकदर्शिनी

etad dharma-phalaṃ putra narāṇāṃ dharma-niścaye | yat tuṣyanty asya pitaro mātā cāpy eka-darśinī ||

Karna sprach: „Mein Sohn, dies wird in den Dharmaśāstras als die höchste Frucht des Dharma für Menschen verkündet, die das Rechte zu bestimmen suchen: dass die Väter und andere verehrungswürdige Älteste, und auch die Mutter — die ihren Blick auf ihren einzigen Sohn richtet — mit ihm zufrieden bleiben.“
