Kuntī–Karṇa Saṃvāda: Lineage Disclosure and Appeal to Fraternal Dharma

आद्ानं मन्त्रसंयुक्त वसन्त्या: पितृवेश्मनि । साहमन्त:पुरे राज्ञ: कुन्तिभोजपुरस्कृता

ādānaṃ mantrasaṃyuktaṃ vasantyāḥ pitṛveśmani | sāham antaḥpure rājñaḥ kuntibhojapuraskṛtā ||

Vaiśaṃpāyana sprach: Als ich im Hause meines Vaters lebte, erlangte ich eine Gabe, an ein Mantra gebunden. In jenen Tagen erfreute ich durch meinen hingebungsvollen Dienst den ehrwürdigen Weisen Durvāsā, und er gewährte mir diese Gunst: Wenn ich mit dem Mantra anrief, konnte ich jede Gottheit zu mir herbeirufen. Mein Vater Kuntibhoja erwies mir große Ehre. Doch in den inneren Gemächern des Königs wurde mein Herz unruhig, als ich auf vielerlei Weise über Macht und Gefahr der Mantras und über die furchtbare Wirksamkeit des von einem Brāhmaṇa gesprochenen Wortes nachsann—wie eine Gabe, zum Guten bestimmt, auch zur Quelle der Sorge werden kann, wenn ihre Folgen nicht völlig erkannt sind.
