Educational Q&A

The verse emphasizes certainty of outcome in a dharma-conflict: when adharma hardens into aggression, the war’s destructive consequences become unavoidable. Sañjaya’s confidence highlights moral causality—Duryodhana’s coalition, having chosen an unrighteous course, is destined to fall.

Sañjaya, the royal narrator, declares to Kṛṣṇa that the opposing kings aligned under Duryodhana will be slain in the coming battle. It functions as a foretelling within the Udyoga Parva’s war-preparation context, pointing toward the decisive defeat of Duryodhana’s side.
