Kṛṣṇa’s Conciliatory Address to Karṇa
तं॑ वै विमनसं दृष्टवा सम्प्रेक्ष्यान्योन्यमन्तिकात् | पुनरेवोत्तरं वाक्यमुक्तवन्तौ नरर्षभौ,उसे उदास देख नरश्रेष्ठ भीष्म और द्रोण एक-दूसरेकी ओर देखते हुए उसके निकट ही पुनः इस प्रकार बात करने लगे
taṁ vai vimanasaṁ dṛṣṭvā samprekṣyānyonyam antikāt | punar evottaraṁ vākyam uktavantau nararṣabhau ||
Als sie ihn niedergeschlagen und im Geist erschüttert sahen, blickten die beiden Besten der Männer—Bhīṣma und Droṇa—einander aus der Nähe an; dann sprachen sie erneut als Antwort. Der Augenblick zeigt, wie Älteste, die ein Schwanken des Geistes an einer entscheidenden ethischen Wegscheide spüren, sich wortlos verständigen und Worte wählen, die das Urteil angesichts des heraufziehenden Konflikts festigen sollen.
