Udyoga Parva Adhyaya 133 — A Mother’s Counsel to Saṃjaya
नाम विश्राव्य वै संख्ये शत्रूनाहूय दंशितान् । सेनाग्रं चापि विद्राव्य हत्वा वा पुरुषं वरम्
nāma viśrāvya vai saṅkhye śatrūn āhūya daṃśitān | senāgraṃ cāpi vidrāvya hatvā vā puruṣaṃ varam ||
Im Gedränge der Schlacht lässt der Krieger zuerst seinen Namen erschallen; dann fordert er die gepanzerten Feinde heraus, treibt die Vorhut des gegnerischen Heeres zurück oder erschlägt einen hervorragenden Streiter der Gegenpartei. Durch solch vortrefflichen Kampf erringt er großen Ruhm; erst dann werden seine Feinde erschüttert und senken vor ihm das Haupt.
