Spiritual benefit is linked to right conduct toward transmitters of dharma: satisfying the reciter and honoring brāhmaṇas through respect, service, and proper hospitality yields auspicious inner joy (prīti) and invites divine favor.
In Vaiśampāyana’s discourse, a general instruction is given about the fruit of listening to sacred narration: the listener’s welfare is connected to the satisfaction of the storyteller and the pleasure of brāhmaṇas, implying that the act of śravaṇa should be accompanied by reverence and support.
