प्रतिपर्वसमाप्तौ तु पुस्तकं वै विचक्षण: । सुवर्णेन च संयुक्त वाचकाय निवेदयेत्‌

Transliteration

pratiparvasamāptau tu pustakaṃ vai vicakṣaṇaḥ | suvarṇena ca saṃyuktaṃ vācakāya nivedayet, pṛthvīnātha |

Translation

Vaiśaṃpāyana sprach: „Am Ende jeder Parva soll ein verständiger Mensch das Buch, zusammen mit Gold, dem Vorleser darbringen. O Herr der Erde! Selbst wenn der Zuhörer arm ist, muss gewiss die Kuhspende vollzogen werden, verbunden mit der Hälfte der üblichen Vergütung. So soll am Schluss jeder Parva der Gelehrte das Buch feierlich, von Gold begleitet, demjenigen übergeben, der es laut vorträgt.“
