Indra and Dharma’s Consolation; Celestial Gaṅgā Purification
भो भो राजन महाप्राज्ञ प्रीतो5स्मि तव पुत्रक । मद्धकत्या सत्यवाक्यैश्नल क्षमया च दमेन च
bho bho rājan mahāprajña prīto ’smi tava putraka | madbhaktyā satyavākyaiś ca kṣamayā ca damena ca ||
Vaiśampāyana sprach: „O König, o hochweise—mein Sohn—ich bin zutiefst zufrieden mit dir: mit deiner Hingabe zu mir, deinem wahrhaftigen Wort, deiner Nachsicht und deiner Selbstzucht.“
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse commends foundational dharmic virtues—devotion to the worthy, truthfulness in speech, forgiveness/forbearance, and restraint of the senses—as qualities that make a person truly admirable and spiritually fit.
The speaker, Vaiśampāyana, addresses a king affectionately as “son” and expresses strong approval, explicitly listing the king’s virtues (devotion, truthful speech, patience, and self-control) as the reasons for his satisfaction.
