Book 12, Chapter 93 — Vāmadeva’s Counsel to King Vasumanā on Dharmic Kingship (धर्मप्रधान-राजधर्मोपदेशः)
वामदेव उवाच धर्ममेवानुवर्तस्व न धर्माद् विद्यते परम् धर्मे स्थिता हि राजानो जयन्ति पृथिवीमिमाम्,वामदेवजी बोले--राजन्! तुम धर्मका ही अनुसरण करो। धर्मसे बढ़कर दूसरी कोई वस्तु नहीं है; क्योंकि धर्ममें स्थित रहनेवाले राजा इस सारी पृथ्वीको जीत लेते हैं
Vāmadeva uvāca: dharmam evānuvartasva na dharmād vidyate param | dharme sthitā hi rājāno jayanti pṛthivīm imām ||
Vāmadeva sprach: „O König, folge allein dem Dharma. Nichts Höheres als Dharma ist bekannt. Denn Könige, die im Dharma fest gegründet sind, sind es, die diese ganze Erde wahrhaft erobern.“
