उतथ्योपदेशः—राजधर्मः, दर्पनिग्रहः, प्रजारक्षणम्
Utathya’s Instruction: Royal Dharma, Restraint of Pride, Protection of Subjects
तेषां हकामकरणादू राज्ञ: संजायते भयम् । मित्राणि न च वर्धन्ते तथामित्री भवन्त्यपि,उनकी इच्छा पूर्ण न करनेसे राजाओंके ऊपर भय आता है। राजाके मित्रोंकी वृद्धि नहीं होती, उलटे शत्रु बनते जाते हैं
teṣāṁ hakāmakaraṇādū rājñaḥ saṁjāyate bhayam | mitrāṇi na ca vardhante tathāmitrī bhavanty api ||
Utathya sprach: „Wenn ein König die Wünsche derer, die von ihm abhängen, nicht erfüllt, erhebt sich Furcht gegen den Herrscher. Sein Kreis der Freunde wächst nicht; vielmehr schlagen eben diese Beziehungen in Feindschaft um.“
