दुर्व्याह्वताच्छड्कमानो दुष्कृताद्‌ दुरधिषछितात्‌ | दुरासिताद्‌ दुर्वजितादिल्धितादड्रचेष्टितात्‌

Transliteration

durvyāhṛtāc chaḍkamāno duṣkṛtād duradhiṣṭhitāt | durāsitād durvajitād īḍhitād duṣceṣṭitāt ||

Translation

Bhīṣma sprach: Man soll stets wachsam bleiben, damit kein ungehöriges Wort dem Mund entgleitet und keine unrechtmäßige Tat begangen wird — damit beim Aufstehen, beim Sitzen auf einem Sitz, beim Gehen, beim Gestikulieren oder bei jeder Bewegung eines Gliedes weder ein Verstoß gegen die Etikette noch Respektlosigkeit entsteht. Diese beständige Selbstbeobachtung ist der Schutz rechter Lebensführung.
