Chapter 81: Trust, Allies, and the Qualifications of the King’s Artha-Secretary (अर्थसचिव)
एते ह्मात्या: कर्तव्या: सर्वकर्मस्ववस्थिता: । पूजिता: संविभक्ताश्न सुसहाया: स्वनुछिता:,जो कुलीन, शीलसम्पन्न, सहनशील, झूठी आत्मप्रशंसा न करनेवाले, शूरवीर, श्रेष्ठ, विद्वान् तथा कर्तव्य-अकर्तव्यको समझनेमें कुशल हों, उन्हें तुम्हें मन्त्रिपदपर प्रतिष्ठित करना चाहिये। वे तुम्हारे सभी कार्योंमें नियुक्त होनेयोग्य हैं। उन्हें तुम सत्कारपूर्वक सुख और सुविधाकी वस्तुएँ देना। इस प्रकार आदरपूर्वक अपनाये जानेपर वे तुम्हारे अच्छे सहायक सिद्ध होंगे
ete hy ātyāḥ kartavyāḥ sarvakarmasv avasthitāḥ | pūjitāḥ saṁvibhaktāś ca aśnantu sahāyāḥ svānucitāḥ ||
Bhīṣma sprach: „Solche Männer sollst du zu deinen engsten Ministern einsetzen, fest in allen Bereichen der Arbeit verpflichtet. Ehre sie und gewähre ihnen den ihnen gebührenden Anteil an Unterhalt und Annehmlichkeiten. Werden sie so geachtet und recht erhalten, so werden sie zu passenden und verlässlichen Verbündeten in all deinen Unternehmungen.“
