Transliteration

athātra nārāyaṇagītam āhur maharṣayas tāta mahānubhāvāḥ | mahārtham atyantatapaḥprayuktaṃ tad ucyamānaṃ hi mayā nibodha, tāta ||

Translation

Bhīṣma sprach: „Hier, mein Kind, führen die großherzigen Seher die ‘Nārāyaṇa-gītā’ an — eine Lehre von tiefster Bedeutung, ausgesprochen unter dem Antrieb strenger Askese. Da ich sie nun darlege, höre aufmerksam zu, mein Kind.“
