Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic decorum in public rites: even personal choice (as in a svayaṃvara) is framed by orderly procedure, respectful assembly, and proper attendants—signaling that individual decisions should harmonize with social responsibility and established norms.

After the assembled kings have taken their seats in the ceremonial hall/arena, the princess makes her formal entrance, accompanied by her nurse and select attendants, marking the beginning of the public proceedings of the choice ceremony.
