धर्मद्वारबहुत्वविमर्शः — Reflection on the Many ‘Doors’ of Dharma (Śānti-parva 342)

सर्वेषामग्रणीर्विष्णु: सेव्य: पूज्यश्न नित्यश: । भरतनन्दन! भूत, भविष्य और वर्तमान तीनों कालोंमें होनेवाले समस्त पुरुषोंके भगवान्‌ विष्णु ही अग्रगण्य हैं; अतः सबको सदा उन्हींकी सेवा-पूजा करनी चाहिये ।।

sarveṣām agraṇīr viṣṇuḥ sevyaḥ pūjyaś ca nityaśaḥ | bharatanandana! bhūta-bhaviṣya-vartamāna-tri-kāleṣu bhaviṣyatāṃ sarva-puruṣāṇāṃ bhagavān viṣṇur eva agraṇīḥ; ataḥ sarvair nityaṃ tasyaiva sevā-pūjā kartavyā ||

Arjuna erklärt, dass unter allen Wesen und Personen—über Vergangenheit, Zukunft und Gegenwart hinweg—Herr Viṣṇu an erster Stelle steht. Darum, so sagt er, ist es die stete Pflicht aller, Ihn in hingebungsvollem Dienst und in Verehrung zu ehren, Ihn als höchste Quelle und Lenker der Ordnung des Dharma anzuerkennen.
