अफ्-#-#का+ द्वात्रिशर्दाधिकत्रिशततमो<ध्याय: शुकदेवजीकी ऊर्ध्वगतिका वर्णन भीष्म उवाच गिरिशृजूं समारुह्मु सुतो व्यासस्थ भारत । समे देशे विविक्ते स निःशलाक उपाविशत्
bhīṣma uvāca | girīśṛṅgaṁ samāruhya suto vyāsasya bhārata | same deśe vivikte sa niḥśalāka upāviśat | pādābhyāṁ śirasā yāvat sarvāṅgeṣu yathākramam | ātmadhāraṇām ārebhe śāstroktavidhinā muniḥ | sa yogakrama-vidāṁ śreṣṭhaḥ pūrṇajñānaḥ samāhitaḥ |
Bhishma sprach: O Spross der Bharatas! Nachdem Śuka, der Sohn Vyāsas, den Gipfel des Kailāsa bestiegen hatte, setzte er sich an einen einsamen, ebenen, grasfreien Ort. Nach der in den Śāstras gelehrten Vorschrift begann er, das Selbst (Ātman) in allen Gliedern in rechter Reihenfolge zu verankern, von den Füßen bis zum Scheitel. Vollendet in der stufenweisen Methode des Yoga, trat er in tiefe Sammlung ein—bereit für den aufwärts gerichteten Gang der Seele.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined inner practice: choosing solitude, following scriptural method, and systematically steadying consciousness (ātmadhāraṇā) as preparation for the soul’s upward course—an ethical ideal of self-mastery and renunciation.
Bhishma narrates how Shukadeva, Vyasa’s son, goes to Kailasa, sits on a secluded, level, grassless spot, and begins a stepwise yogic concentration from feet to head, indicating his readiness for the final ascent of consciousness.
