ततोडनध्याय इति तं व्यास: पुत्रमवारयत् | शुको वारितमात्रस्तु कौतूहलसमन्वित:
tato 'nadhyāya iti taṃ vyāsaḥ putram avārayat | śuko vāritamātras tu kautūhalasamanvitaḥ ||
Da hielt Vyasa seinen Sohn zurück und sprach: „Dies ist eine Zeit des anadhyāya (in der die vedische Rezitation auszusetzen ist).“ Kaum war er gebremst, erfüllte Shuka eine brennende Neugier, begierig, den Grund dieses Verbots zu erfahren.
