Adhyāya 325: Nārada in Śvetadvīpa—Stotra to the Nirguṇa Mahātman

क्रीडन्त्यश्व हसन्त्यश्न गायन्त्यश्वापिता: शुभम्‌

krīḍanty aśva hasanty aśn gayanty aśvāpītāḥ śubham

Bhīṣma sprach: „Sie tollen umher; sie lachen; sie essen; sie singen glückverheißende Lieder — nachdem sie die Libation des Aśvamedha (des Pferdeopfers) getrunken haben.“ Im Zusammenhang ruft die Zeile die äußeren Zeichen von Wohlstand und rituellem Gelingen hervor und erinnert zugleich unausgesprochen daran, dass wahres Verdienst von rechter Gesinnung und rechtem Handeln abhängt, nicht bloß von festlichem Prunk.
